Raidbots and Bloodmallet Tooltips Not Working? Here's the Fix

March 22, 2026 · 5 min read

You run a sim on Raidbots. The results show item names but no stats when you hover. Bloodmallet's trinket rankings are just text with no tooltip context. You're optimizing gear without being able to see what the gear actually does. This happens because both tools load tooltip data from Wowhead, and Wowhead is blocked in your country.

The problem

Raidbots uses Wowhead's tooltip script (power.js from wow.zamimg.com) to show item stats, set bonuses, and trinket effects in sim results. Bloodmallet does the same for trinket and talent comparisons. When Wowhead is geo-blocked, that script fails to load. The sim results are still accurate, but you lose the visual context that makes them useful.

What breaks on Raidbots

Raidbots is where most players go to compare gear, trinkets, and talent builds using SimulationCraft. When tooltips are missing, the sim output becomes a wall of item names and DPS numbers with no way to hover and see what each item actually does. You can't quickly compare two trinket procs, check set bonus text, or see the stats on a piece of gear without opening each item in a separate tab.

The Top Gear, Droptimizer, and Gear Compare tools are all affected. The sim math is fine, but the interface becomes significantly harder to use without tooltip context. If you're deciding between two items that sim within 0.5% of each other, the tooltip details (secondary stats, proc conditions, item level) are what help you make the call.

What breaks on Bloodmallet

Bloodmallet ranks trinkets and talents by simulated DPS for every spec. Without tooltips, you see a ranked bar chart with trinket names but no way to check what each trinket actually does. If a trinket you've never heard of is ranked #3 for your spec, you'd normally hover to see its proc effect. With broken tooltips, you have to open Wowhead in a new tab, which itself is blocked.

This also applies to Bloodmallet's talent comparison charts. Talent node names without descriptive tooltips are not very useful, especially for players still learning their spec.

Other sim and optimization tools affected

Same problem hits Ask Mr. Robot for gear optimization, SubCreation for Mythic+ meta builds, and HeroDamage for quick sim comparisons. Any tool that embeds Wowhead's tooltip script is affected by the geo-block.

The fix

Install the WowTool.tips browser extension from wowtool.tips. Chrome and Firefox. It intercepts the blocked Wowhead tooltip requests and routes them through servers where Wowhead is accessible. Tooltips come back on Raidbots, Bloodmallet, and every other tool that depends on Wowhead data.

One install. No VPN. No monthly cost.

Why not just use a VPN?

A VPN works but it's overkill for this. You'd be routing all your traffic through a foreign server just to see tooltip popups on a sim tool. VPNs cost $5-15 per month, add latency to your game connection, and can trigger CAPTCHAs on some sites. The WowTool.tips extension only touches Wowhead-related requests. Everything else stays on your normal connection.

How the extension works

The extension intercepts requests to Wowhead's tooltip script and CDN resources, and routes them through WowTool.tips's servers. From your browser's perspective, the script loads normally. Tooltips render on every tool, exactly as they would for a player in an unblocked country.

The extension only activates on Wowhead domains and CDN hosts (wow.zamimg.com, static.zamimg.com, nether.wowhead.com). It does not read, modify, or interact with any other site or browsing data.

Frequently asked questions

Does the extension affect sim accuracy? No. The extension only restores tooltip rendering. It does not modify sim input, output, or any data sent to or from the SimulationCraft engine. Your DPS numbers are unaffected.

Does it work on Raidbots' Quick Sim? Yes. The extension works on all Raidbots pages: Top Gear, Droptimizer, Gear Compare, Quick Sim, and Stat Weights. Any page that loads Wowhead tooltips is covered.

What about Bloodmallet's talent charts? Those also rely on Wowhead tooltip embeds, so yes, talent tooltips are restored along with trinket tooltips.
