1. Download the extension zip below
2. Extract/unzip it to a folder (e.g. Desktop)
3. Go to chrome://extensions
4. Turn on Developer mode (top-right toggle)
5. Click Load unpacked and select the extracted folder
Download for ChromeGreen icon = active. Store listings for both browsers are on the way.
Also works on Edge, Brave, Opera, and Arc. Same Chrome extension, same steps.
Icy Veins, Method.gg, WarcraftLogs, Raider.io, Archon.gg, WoWProgress, Raidbots, Bloodmallet, SubCreation, Wago.io, CurseForge, Mythic Trap, MMO-Champion, and more load Wowhead's tooltip script for item stats, spells, and quests. When Wowhead is blocked, the script fails silently. Every tooltip goes blank. Every link is a dead end.
ZAM Network cut off Turkey, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, India, Serbia, and China in March 2022, citing legal compliance costs. Millions of WoW players lost access to the game's most essential database. Four years later, nothing has changed.
Blizzard support tells us to check Wowhead for help, but we can't even open the site. I have to toggle a VPN on and off every single time.
Every guide links to Wowhead. Every addon references it. There is no alternative with the same depth of community comments.
It's such an essential tool. I genuinely cannot play World of Warcraft without it, and there's nothing I can do about the restriction.
The real loss is the community knowledge. Every item and quest has years of player comments explaining how it works. That doesn't exist anywhere else.
Since yesterday Wowhead is blocking visitors from certain countries. China, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Turkey, Serbia, India.
I pay the same subscription as everyone else but can't use the one resource the entire community is built around.
For some legal reasons the website has now blocked access from eight countries including India. This legitimately sucks.
WarcraftLogs and Raider.io link to Wowhead for every spell and item tooltip. If you're in a blocked country, those tools lose half their value for raid prep.
Apparently anyone from my country is now blocked from using it. Goodbye Wowhead, I guess.
I get this screen whenever I log in from Thailand or Indonesia. I don't get it when I log in from Cambodia. I don't really understand this.
Money must be tight, or they got greedy. The whole community depends on this site and they just cut us off.
This decision is ultimately due to legal compliance and liability issues. It is an indefinite situation.
Woke up to this this morning. Not sure if other regions are going to have this issue too.
They don't care about us. The visitor numbers didn't justify the cost, so millions of players just got dropped.
This is the first time I hear that a website like this is stopping serving a region. Feels discriminatory.
Advertising revenue in those countries is abysmally low, so they probably just don't make enough to justify the legal overhead.

25+ sites with broken tooltips: WarcraftLogs, Raider.io, Icy Veins, Raidbots, Wago.io, and more. What breaks on each one.
Spell and item tooltips missing in log reports and M+ profiles? One extension brings them back.
Sim results without item stats are useless. Here's why it happens and how to fix it for free.

WowTool.tips ("the Service") is a network routing proxy that allows users to access wowhead.com from regions where it is unavailable. The Service routes HTTP requests through servers in regions where Wowhead is accessible and returns the responses to the user's browser.
WowTool.tips is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Wowhead, ZAM Network, Fanbyte, Blizzard Entertainment, or Microsoft Corporation. All trademarks, service marks, and content accessible through the Service belong to their respective owners.
The Service functions as a network proxy, similar to a VPN. It uses edge caching to reduce load on Wowhead's origin servers, but does not redistribute or repurpose Wowhead's content. All content displayed in your browser originates from Wowhead's servers and is routed through our infrastructure. Wowhead's advertising, analytics, and cookie consent mechanisms are preserved and presented to users as delivered by Wowhead.
We do not claim ownership of any content accessed through the Service. All content, including but not limited to guides, database entries, user comments, images, and interactive tools, is the property of Wowhead and its contributors.
You agree not to use the Service for any purpose that violates applicable law, to attempt to overwhelm the Service with automated requests, or to use the Service to circumvent Wowhead's account security mechanisms. The Service is intended for personal, non-commercial browsing of Wowhead content from regions where direct access is unavailable.
The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee availability, speed, or completeness of content delivered through the Service. Wowhead may change its content, structure, or access policies at any time, which may affect the Service's functionality.
WowTool.tips shall not be liable for any damages arising from the use or inability to use the Service. This includes but is not limited to loss of data, interruption of gameplay research, or reliance on information accessed through the Service.
We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the Service at any time without notice. We may also restrict access to the Service from regions where Wowhead is directly accessible, to minimize unnecessary load on our infrastructure.
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

WowTool.tips collects minimal data necessary to operate the Service. We log aggregate request counts for rate limiting and capacity planning. We do not log individual URLs, IP addresses, or any personally identifiable information.
We do not collect, store, or have access to: your Wowhead account credentials, the specific pages you visit, your IP address, cookies exchanged between your browser and Wowhead, or any personal data entered on Wowhead pages.
The WowTool.tips browser extension operates entirely in your browser. It only activates on domains matching wowhead.com and Wowhead CDN hosts (wow.zamimg.com, static.zamimg.com, nether.wowhead.com). It does not access, read, or modify any other websites, tabs, or browsing data. The extension does not send any data to WowTool.tips servers beyond the proxied Wowhead requests themselves.
Content loaded through the Service comes directly from Wowhead's servers. Wowhead has its own privacy policy, cookie consent mechanisms, and advertising partners. We do not control or modify Wowhead's data collection practices. Wowhead's cookie consent banner is presented to you as-is when you use the Service.
Aggregate usage statistics (total request counts) are retained for operational purposes. No individual browsing data is retained because it is never collected.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
