Tooltips break on every WoW site

Icy Veins, Method.gg, WarcraftLogs, Raider.io, Archon.gg, WoWProgress, Raidbots, Bloodmallet, SubCreation, Wago.io, CurseForge, Mythic Trap, MMO-Champion, and more load Wowhead's tooltip script for item stats, spells, and quests. When Wowhead is blocked, the script fails silently. Every tooltip goes blank. Every link is a dead end.

Blocked in 7 countries since 2022

ZAM Network cut off Turkey, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, India, Serbia, and China in March 2022, citing legal compliance costs. Millions of WoW players lost access to the game's most essential database. Four years later, nothing has changed.

Blizzard support tells us to check Wowhead for help, but we can't even open the site. I have to toggle a VPN on and off every single time.

Is this legal?
WowTool.tips is a network routing service, functionally equivalent to a VPN or proxy server. We route your requests through a server in a region where Wowhead is accessible. We use edge caching to reduce load on Wowhead's servers, but do not redistribute or repurpose their content. Wowhead's ads and cookie consent banners are preserved and shown to users as-is. We operate under the same legal basis as any commercial VPN provider. See our Terms of Service for details.
Why is Wowhead blocked in my country?
In March 2022, ZAM Network (Wowhead's parent company) blocked access from seven countries: Turkey, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, India, Serbia, and China. Their stated reason was that legal compliance costs for these regions exceeded the revenue they generated. It is a business decision, not related to sanctions or government action. The block has been in place since then with no sign of reversal.
How does the extension fix tooltips on other sites?
Sites like Icy Veins, Method.gg, WarcraftLogs, Raider.io, Wowpedia, Archon.gg, WoWProgress, Raidbots, Bloodmallet, SubCreation, Wago.io, Mythic Trap, and dozens more load a tooltip script from wowhead.com. When Wowhead is blocked in your country, that script fails to load and all tooltips break. The extension intercepts these requests and routes them through WowTool.tips, so tooltips work again everywhere.
Is my data safe?
We do not store browsing data, account credentials, or page content. We do not inject tracking scripts or modify Wowhead's analytics. The extension only runs on Wowhead and a fixed list of WoW community sites such as Icy Veins, WarcraftLogs, and Raider.io. Any other site is opt-in from the extension popup. Can I log into my Wowhead account?
Through the web proxy, logins may not work reliably because cookies pass through our server. With the browser extension, Wowhead sees your browser directly (routed through our server), so logins and account features work normally.
Why not just use a VPN?
You can. But a full VPN routes all your traffic, costs $5-15/month, and requires an app. WowTool.tips only handles Wowhead traffic, is free, and the extension works silently in your browser. If Wowhead is the only site you need unblocked, this is simpler and cheaper.

1. Service description

WowTool.tips ("the Service") is a network routing proxy that allows users to access wowhead.com from regions where it is unavailable. The Service routes HTTP requests through servers in regions where Wowhead is accessible and returns the responses to the user's browser.

2. No affiliation

WowTool.tips is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Wowhead, ZAM Network, Fanbyte, Blizzard Entertainment, or Microsoft Corporation. All trademarks, service marks, and content accessible through the Service belong to their respective owners.

3. Nature of the service

The Service functions as a network proxy, similar to a VPN. It uses edge caching to reduce load on Wowhead's origin servers, but does not redistribute or repurpose Wowhead's content. All content displayed in your browser originates from Wowhead's servers and is routed through our infrastructure. Wowhead's advertising, analytics, and cookie consent mechanisms are preserved and presented to users as delivered by Wowhead.

4. No content ownership

We do not claim ownership of any content accessed through the Service. All content, including but not limited to guides, database entries, user comments, images, and interactive tools, is the property of Wowhead and its contributors.

5. User conduct

You agree not to use the Service for any purpose that violates applicable law, to attempt to overwhelm the Service with automated requests, or to use the Service to circumvent Wowhead's account security mechanisms. The Service is intended for personal, non-commercial browsing of Wowhead content from regions where direct access is unavailable.

6. No warranty

The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee availability, speed, or completeness of content delivered through the Service. Wowhead may change its content, structure, or access policies at any time, which may affect the Service's functionality.

7. Limitation of liability

WowTool.tips shall not be liable for any damages arising from the use or inability to use the Service. This includes but is not limited to loss of data, interruption of gameplay research, or reliance on information accessed through the Service.

8. Termination

We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the Service at any time without notice. We may also restrict access to the Service from regions where Wowhead is directly accessible, to minimize unnecessary load on our infrastructure.

9. Changes to terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

10. Paid plans, cancellation and refunds

The proxy, the browser extension and every Keystone Delta reading are free. Paid plans exist only for Keystone Delta Pro and Guild, described with their prices on the plans page. A plan is a subscription in US dollars, billed for the term you choose (one month, three months, six months or a year) and renewing at the end of that term until cancelled.

A subscription buys processing priority, report capacity, history depth and saved state. It never buys the analysis itself, and no reading is ever moved behind a paywall.

Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from the customer portal, where you sign in with the email address you paid with, or by writing to [email protected]. Cancellation stops the next renewal and takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for; access continues until then.

Refunds. We refund any purchase within 14 days of payment, on request, without asking for a reason. Write to [email protected] or use the customer portal. Refunds are returned to the payment method used.

Who you pay. Payments are handled by our merchant of record, who appears on your statement and issues your receipt, and who is responsible for collecting any VAT or sales tax due in your country.

We answer support mail within three business days.

1. What we collect

WowTool.tips collects minimal data necessary to operate the Service. We log aggregate request counts for rate limiting and capacity planning. We do not log individual URLs, IP addresses, or any personally identifiable information.

2. What we do not collect

We do not collect, store, or have access to: your Wowhead account credentials, the specific pages you visit, your IP address, cookies exchanged between your browser and Wowhead, or any personal data entered on Wowhead pages.

3. Browser extension

The WowTool.tips browser extension operates entirely in your browser. It runs on wowhead.com, Wowhead's CDN hosts (wow.zamimg.com, static.zamimg.com, nether.wowhead.com), and a fixed list of WoW community sites that embed Wowhead tooltips, such as Icy Veins, WarcraftLogs, Raider.io, and Raidbots. On any other site it stays inactive unless you enable it there yourself from the popup. It does not read or modify any other tabs or browsing data. The extension does not send any data to WowTool.tips servers beyond the proxied Wowhead requests themselves.

4. Third-party content

Content loaded through the Service comes directly from Wowhead's servers. Wowhead has its own privacy policy, cookie consent mechanisms, and advertising partners. We do not control or modify Wowhead's data collection practices. Wowhead's cookie consent banner is presented to you as-is when you use the Service.

5. Data retention

Aggregate usage statistics (total request counts) are retained for operational purposes. No individual browsing data is retained because it is never collected.

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
